Lake Lanier can be found in the foot hills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains, it is in the north of the state of Georgia and north east of Atlanta. When you reach the Lake you’ll be delighted and spoiled for choice with the lake’s 650 plus miles of shoreline, scattered with dense woodlands and perfect views into the mountains and picture perfect aqua blue water.
The Lake takes its name from the famous 19th century poet Sidney Clopton Lanier, who took inspiration from the area and its natural beauty, even going so far as to write “Song of the Chattahoochee” in homage to the area and the famous Chattahoochee river.
Recent water temperature for Lake Lanier is: 68°F
During the summer months the area is massively popular with tourists who flock to take part in a diverse range of activities that include fishing, swimming, boating and camping around the mild waters whose temperatures generally reach between 60 and 70 Fahrenheit.
For those that would like to get out of the water there are canopy tours, equestrian centres and hundreds of miles of terrain to explore. During winter you can even visit the Lake Lanier Islands for their special “Magical Nights of Lights Event” that sees the area turned into a winter wonderland with a holiday village and attractions for the family.
