Due to the tropical climate it enjoys all year round, Key Largo is a comfortably warm place to visit any time of the year. The average summer temperature is 89 degrees, but this is made comfortable by cooling ocean waters. In the winter temperatures hover around 75 to 80 degrees, with occasional warmer days.

The island is accessible by two roads. After flying in from Miami International Airport you can be on Key Largo in less than an hour by car or shuttle bus. A Greyhound service is also available.

Best time to Visit Key Largo

With the Key Largo water temperature ranging from 69 degrees in January up to 87 degrees in July and August, it is ideal for swimming throughout the year, and with a wide range of ocean-going activities on offer including scuba-diving, snorkeling, sports fishing and boating, there is plenty to do.

The ocean to the east of Key Largo is a treasure trove of living coral formations, exotically beautiful fish and fascinating shipwrecks just waiting to be explored.

Just remember to check the local weather forecast before venturing out, don’t touch the delicate coral, and don’t feed the fish, otherwise this warm water wonderland is your oyster.
