The friendly Californian resort of La Jolla Shores is often referred to as the jewel of San Diego, and with its sandy beaches, clear Pacific waters and exceptional surfing and water sports, it’s easy to see why.
The resort is easy to reach from all over the US and regular international flights put it within the reach of travellers from Europe and beyond. See the sun set over the Pacific at Mount Soledad or take the kids to Birch Aquarium at Scripps; there is something to appeal to the whole family in this upmarket Californian resort.
Water temperatures range from 59F or 16C in January to 68F or 20C in August at La Jolla Shores, and like many Californian resorts, the temperature peaks around the first week of September.
The sea is pleasant to swim in at any time of year, though it can be chilly on windy days from January to March. Surfers will find that a 2mm long sleeved shorty wetsuit is perfect for windy spring days, while 4/3mm and bootees are ideal for February and March when it can be cold and windy.
