Los Angeles is a great choice for those who enjoy beach based breaks. Venice Beach with its famous boardwalk has all you need for a relaxing break, while the Pacific coast beaches have some of the best surfing in the US. Any time is a great time to visit Los Angeles. The Mediterranean subtropical climate mean that the city has only around 35 rainy days per year, and sunshine is almost guaranteed. Temperatures range from 59F or 15C to 73F or 23C in January to 79F or 26C to 90F or 32C in August. Pack light clothing and a jacket for evening if visiting in the winter months, or add plenty of sunscreen and sandals for summer holidays.

The top attractions in Los Angeles
The beach at Venice is one of the most famous in the US and you can explore the art galleries and canals, or just relax with a cool drink on the sandy beach while you watch people pass by. There is always something to see on the boardwalk, and conditions for swimming and water sports are good all year long.
Surfers should head for Malibu, Topanga or Zuma beach to find great waves and a friendly crowd. Catch a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, go shopping on Rodeo Drive or take a ‘star’s home’ tour through Beverley Hills. The La Brea tar pits are an unusual and exciting place to spend the day, while the Griffith Observatory in MacArthur Park offers superb views over the city and the Pacific Ocean.
